The History

Wildwood had its beginnings in the Arkansas Opera Theatre, founded in 1974 by Ann P. Chotard. Through the visionary leadership of Dr. Chotard and a gift of 105 acres of unspoiled woodland from Deltic Timber Company, Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts opened its gates to the public in 1989. From 1974 through 2008, the Arkansas Opera Theatre produced opera, conducted an educational program and presented a diversity of performances ranging from classical to contemporary.

Dr. Chotard retired in 2007. Cliff Fannin Baker became Artistic Director and CEO in January, 2008.
