For the winter/spring 2017 Art in the Park, artists Miranda Young, Daniella Napolitano, and Sarah Burns will explore the natural world and its many configurations through various printmaking techniques and styles.

SARAH BURNS, inspired by a home filled with music, art, reading and creative people,started making things from an early age. Fashion design, fabric, hair, drawing, painting,clay evolved into a love of hand made processes and a joy in imperfections. Guided by a talented friend she has discovered a passion for linocut printmaking. The multi-step process and artists hand evident in the work has brought her much solace and purpose. Sarah is currently working on several series about children, diversity, and nature. When she is not creating she inspires others to find their artistic gifts as an elementary art teacher in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sarah also finds everyday inspiration for her work while hiking, and enjoying nature with her daughters, husband and friends.
Nature Printmaking Workshop for Teens & Adults
March 11, 1 pm – 4 pm – CANCELLED
In this hands-on workshop, Nature in Print artist Sarah Burns will guide workshop participants on using images from nature to inspire original multicolor foam print engraving plates. Once created the foam print plates can be combined and printed multiple times for a variety of effects. Beginners to advanced artists will enjoy creating original engravings by hand using a non-toxic simple process.
Cost for the workshop is $60. The 3 hour workshop is appropriate for 13 years + up. Registration is required and limited to 20 people. To register for the workshop, please click here.
MIRANDA YOUNG, was born and raised in little Rock Arkansas, received her BFA in Printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2003. She then lived and worked in Kansas City until 2005. Since moving back to Little Rock she has been working as a Museum School instructor, first as a children’s instructor and then in 2011 she started teaching Printmaking. Miranda is also a scenic designer and properties master for the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre.
DANIELLA NAPOLITANO is an artist currently living and working in Little Rock, AR. She draws her inspiration from nature and is fascinated by how people interact with the environment. She studied at American University in Washington, DC where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Studio Art and minor in Graphic Design. She currently works at the Arkansas Arts Center.
